If you have a CD that will not work in a ripper like Grip, iTunes or etc try CDRDAO. If a CD is giving me trouble in Grip or iTunes, using CDRDAO to record it to an image and then writing that image to a CDRW disc, and then ripping the new disc to MP3s works great.
This also works sometimes for CDs that are not alble to be copied becasue of code on the CD. If CDRDAO does not know about something it finds, it seems to just skip it.
Give it a try for any tricky disk copying.
